Gwendolyn Brown on What’s Ahead for Trailer Dealers

In this episode of 10 Minute Takes, FTR CEO Jonathan Starks chats with Gwen Brown, President of the National Trailer Dealers Association (NTDA).

Gwen shared what she’s hearing from dealers across the country: uncertainty is everywhere. Tariffs keep shifting, interest rates remain high, and regulations are in flux. Dealers are cautious, with many waiting to see how things play out before making big equipment purchases.

She also talked about how interesting it has been watching the industry itself change—becoming more dynamic through mergers, acquisitions, and new business arms like finance and IT—changes that are reshaping what support looks like for NTDA members.

Looking ahead, Gwen highlighted NTDA’s upcoming conference focused on helping members navigate this uncertainty, plus two big initiatives:

• Scholarships for employees and their families (26 awarded this year).
• Legislative action to level the playing field on floor plan taxes for trailer dealers.
