Spot Market
Labor Day brought the usual seasonal swings:
- Dry van and reefer rates dipped after pre-holiday spikes.
- Flatbed finally ticked upward for the first time in nine weeks.
- Even with the holiday, flatbed volume was still up 34% from last year.
Economy at Large
Mortgage rates fell to their lowest since last October, the ISM Manufacturing Index showed continued contraction (though slightly better), and gold imports surged more than 1,000% as buyers rushed ahead of new tariffs.
